Celebrity Solstice is currently scheduled to dock at Halong International Cruise Port in the Bai Chay area of Ha Long City.

This is a docked port call rather than a tender operation. However, passengers still need time to leave the ship, complete any required procedures and travel from the ship area to the Main Lobby.

Where will your driver or guide meet you?

Drivers and guides are normally not permitted to wait beside the ship or directly at the gangway. Our usual meeting point is one of the following:

• Ticket Counter #3 inside the Main Lobby.
• The Flagpole immediately outside the Main Lobby entrance.

Your final confirmation will provide the exact meeting point, driver or guide contact details and recommended return deadline.

How long does it take to get ashore?

Do not arrange your pickup at the ship’s published arrival time. Clearance, gangway queues and passenger flow vary from one call to another.

• Typical time from arrival to reaching the meeting point: 15–45 minutes.
• Recommended planning allowance: approximately 30 minutes.
• Distance from the ship area to the Main Lobby: approximately 1 km.
• Passengers may walk or use the free port shuttle when it is operating.

Always follow the all-aboard time announced on the ship. For independent excursions, we normally plan to return to the cruise terminal at least 60 minutes before the published departure time.

Ready-made travel plans for Celebrity Solstice

Celebrity Solstice has several different overnight schedules in Halong Bay. The most suitable plan depends on the ship’s exact arrival and departure times.

Plan 1: Arrive at 7:00 AM and depart at 2:00 PM the next day

Best use of this port call: Take the longest excursion on Day 1 and protect the early return deadline on Day 2.

• Option A: Visit Hanoi or Ninh Binh on Day 1, followed by an early private 4-hour Halong Bay tour on Day 2.
• Option B: Take a continuous 2-day Ninh Binh shore tour or 2-day Halong Bay and Hanoi tour, returning by approximately noon on Day 2.
• Option C: Spend Day 1 cruising Halong Bay, then keep Day 2 relaxed with a short local visit near Bai Chay and the cruise port.

For a 2:00 PM departure, plan to be back at the cruise terminal by approximately 1:00 PM. Standard group cruises returning at 5:00 PM or later will not fit on the final day.

Plan 2: Arrive in the late morning or around noon and depart at 7:00 PM the next day

Best use of this port call: Choose a flexible private excursion on Day 1 and use the longer final day for Halong Bay.

• Option A: Take a private 4-hour Halong Bay tour after disembarkation, followed by a full Halong Bay cruise on Day 2.
• Option B: Join a confirmed afternoon private Hanoi tour from the cruise port on Day 1 and explore Halong Bay on Day 2.
• Option C: Choose a complete 2-day Hanoi shore tour, 2-day Ninh Binh shore excursion or 2-day Halong Bay and Hanoi tour.

For a 7:00 PM departure, plan to be back at the cruise terminal by approximately 6:00 PM.

Plan 3: Arrive at 11:00 AM and depart at 8:00 PM the next day

This schedule provides a little more flexibility on the final day.

• Day 1: Choose a private Halong Bay tour, an afternoon Hanoi excursion or a private Hai Phong cultural and food tour.
• Day 2: Join a suitable Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay day cruise, or complete a 2-day Hanoi or Ninh Binh itinerary.
• Final return: Plan to reach the cruise terminal by approximately 7:00 PM.

The extra hour is useful, but it should not be used to reduce the return buffer. Traffic conditions and the time required to travel from the Main Lobby back to the ship must still be considered.

Hanoi tours from Celebrity Solstice

Hanoi is approximately 2.5–3 hours from the cruise port each way. It should only be selected when the port schedule provides sufficient time for both sightseeing and a protected return journey.

• Early morning pickup: Private Full-Day Hanoi Tour for Cruise Ship Passengers.
• Morning departure: Private Hanoi Day Tour from the Cruise Ship.
• Afternoon departure: Private Hanoi Day Tour from the Cruise Ship – Afternoon Departure.

Hanoi tours returning at 8:30 PM, 10:30 PM or 11:00 PM are intended for the first day of an overnight port call. They are not suitable for the final day when the ship departs at 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM.

Ninh Binh tours from Celebrity Solstice

Ninh Binh is approximately 3–3.5 hours from Halong each way. A private tour is recommended because the departure time and itinerary can be adjusted around the ship’s schedule.

• Morning departure: Private Ninh Binh Day Tour from the Cruise Ship.

A standard full-day Ninh Binh itinerary is best used on Day 1 of an early-arrival overnight call. It will not fit the final day of a 2:00 PM, 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM departure.

Do I need a hotel during the overnight port call?

No. Your cabin normally remains available while the ship stays overnight in port. A hotel is only necessary when it is included in a two-day land itinerary or when you personally prefer to stay ashore.
