Dragon Golf Links is the coastal golf course inside Dragon Ocean Do Son, Hai Phong. Choose it for a round shaped by sea views, wind, water hazards and bunkers. Book the golf separately from the development’s beach, hotel and amusement attractions; sharing a location does not make them one admission package.
A reservation for Ruby Tree Golf Resort, also called Do Son Seaside Golf, is for a different club. Check the full name and clubhouse pin before arranging the car.
The development has 27 holes, but a standard visitor offer is for an 18-hole round. Confirm the actual course combination, starting time and total cost. For a first visit, protect most of the day for golf and transport rather than trying to fit a full round between several Do Son sightseeing stops.
What makes this course different
Dragon Golf Links was designed by Greg Norman Golf Course Design. Its exposed coastal setting is central to the experience: the wind can change the value of a club choice, and water and sand influence the route to the green. It will appeal more to a golfer who enjoys managing conditions than to someone looking for a sheltered practice outing.
Two holes illustrate the decisions involved. Hole 7 is a par 5 with a sea-facing setting and water between the fairway and green. Decide where you want the approach to begin before committing to an ambitious second shot. Hole 8 is a par 3 with water and greenside bunkers; the wind matters as much as the distance printed on the scorecard.
Ask the starter or caddie which tees match your experience and comfortable carry distance. On an unfamiliar course, first identify the penalty area, the required carry and the safer landing area. Do not adopt another player’s line merely because they hit a longer ball.
For a different Hai Phong setting, compare Vinpearl Golf on Vu Yen Island, where Lakeside and Marshland are separate 18-hole choices. Select the course you want to play, then build the transport around it; the two clubs are not adjacent.
For an inland round in neighboring Quang Ninh, the Silk Path Dong Trieu golf guide covers its hilly Faldo layout and inbound visitor booking. Treat it as a separate golf day with its own transport, rather than another stop inside Do Son.
Reserve the round before arranging the car
Contact Dragon Golf Links on +84 225 376 6666 or Info@dragongolflinks.vn. Send your playing date, preferred tee-time window, number of golfers and approximate experience. State that you are an international visitor and include any junior players, rental needs and non-playing companions.
The club’s website has a booking-request form, followed by staff confirmation. Sending a request is not a confirmed tee time. Obtain the reply with your date, starting time, number of holes and payment conditions before making a nonrefundable transport or hotel arrangement.
Reserve at least 24 hours ahead, and earlier when your date is inflexible. A solo visitor should ask about joining another group: the usual minimum is two players on weekdays and three on weekends or holidays, with a maximum of four for weekend and holiday groups. Any exception needs the club’s agreement.
If you need rental clubs, give your handedness and preferred set, and request confirmation of availability and the charge. Do the same for shoes. Confirm the actual set and size before paying.
Compare the complete price, not just the green fee
Request a written visitor quotation for your exact date and tee time. Check whether it covers the green fee, caddie service and shared buggy, then separate any equipment, food, drinks and gratuities. A fee for requesting a particular caddie is different from the ordinary caddie service or a tip.
Ask about night-play or public-holiday supplements and what happens if your party has an odd number of players sharing carts. Compare offers with the same inclusions. A tournament package for a large group and a hotel-and-golf bundle should not be used as the expected price for two visitors playing one round.
Before paying, get the deadline for changes, cancellation terms and treatment of a weather-interrupted round. Advance notice of cancellation does not, by itself, establish a full refund. Keep the confirmed inclusions with your reservation so checkout is based on the agreed package.
Use the practice area deliberately
The driving range has 25 practice bays, alongside practice terrain for different lies and a putting area. It is useful for getting accustomed to unfamiliar clubs and the coastal wind before your round. Ask separately about balls, rental equipment and access to the short-game areas.
For a complete beginner, a practice session with suitable instruction is a more manageable starting point than buying a full round. Arrange the instructor, language, length and equipment explicitly. A driving-range reservation does not automatically provide a coach or permission to join the main course.
If you only want to practice, request range access and its current price rather than purchasing an 18-hole offer.
Allow time on both sides of the tee time
The club’s pace target for 18 holes is 4 hours 40 minutes. Treat this as a playing standard, not a guaranteed hotel-to-hotel duration. Check-in, warm-up, changing, a meal and the road journeys are additional.
Be ready to play at least 15 minutes before the booked start. Plan to reach the clubhouse earlier so you can check in and organize equipment without rushing. Ask about the likely finish for your slot before arranging an airport departure afterward.
Evening play needs a confirmed start, course allocation and finish time. Do not infer that all 27 holes are available under lights or that arriving near closing gives you enough time for a complete round. Arrange the return car around the actual booking.
Dress, carts and weather
Bring proper golf clothing and footwear rather than beachwear or flip-flops. Each player needs a golf bag and caddie, and carts are part of on-course operation. Ask who will drive: a buggy in the package does not automatically authorize every visitor to operate it. Confirm any driving-document requirement directly.
Carry sun protection and a light rain layer, and use staff guidance on the day’s conditions. When play is suspended, follow the course team’s directions and wait for permission to resume. A paid round is not a reason to continue into deteriorating weather.
Reach the golf clubhouse, not the beach entrance
Give the driver Dragon Golf Links clubhouse, Dragon Ocean Do Son, Hai Phong and the entrance pin supplied with your booking. “Doi Rong” alone identifies a large development. Confirm where the car drops golf bags and where the return pickup will happen.
From Hanoi, the Hanoi to Hai Phong private transfer can help arrange the road journey. Specify the Dragon Golf Links drop-off and all golf bags when requesting the car. Confirm the exact destination price and arrange waiting or a return journey separately; the listed service is a one-way transfer.
From central Hai Phong or Cat Bi Airport, arrange a car around your confirmed starting time. Count golf bags as well as suitcases when choosing its size. If arriving by air, allow for baggage collection and delays instead of choosing a tee time from the flight’s scheduled landing alone.
Make a separate plan for non-golfers
The clubhouse has a restaurant and changing facilities. Confirm access and serving times for companions, particularly around an early or late round. Anyone wanting to accompany players onto the course needs the club’s permission and the applicable spectator arrangement.
For a separate swimming outing, use the Dragon Beach guide to choose the correct area and admission. Arrange transport between zones and a meeting time after golf. Non-golfers should have a worthwhile plan of their own instead of spending several hours waiting for the last putt.
