History and the name

Not only is a beautiful landscape, Gia Vi cave is also a testament to the spirit of unyielding, indomitable, self-sacrificing self-sacrifice for the homeland of An Lao district.
During the anti-French invaders period, the Elephant mountain guerrilla soldier named Ôn Văn Vị was in charge of guarding and alarming on the top of the mountain whenever an enemy came to alert the villagers and guerrillas. After many failures, the enemy forces knew the cause and concentrated their forces.

That guerrilla soldier retreated entrenched in the cave. Enemy soldiers were angry at shooting, dropping grenades, using straw, smoked straw to call for surrender but all failed.
In the end, after many days of holding, the hero sacrificed and did not surrender to the enemy. The sacrifice of the guerrilla soldier has raised the patriotism, hatred and hatred of the children of An Lao, determined to avenge his teammates and protect the village.

Remembering the merits of the martyrs, the people in this area called this cave “Già Vị cave”.

Gia Vi Cave not only amazes visitors by its shimmering beauty but it is also one of the quite typical caves with high scientific value ranked by the State as a National Historical monument in 1962.
