
Sapa overview
Sapa is a town of Lao Cai Province in the Northwest of Vietnam. This town is famous for fresh, cool air, terraced rice fields, white water buffalos, clouds heaven. Tourists come to Sapa to enjoy trekking oppotunity to minority villages. This is great chance to learn more about their history, culture, daily life, costumes of ethnic minorities in Vietnam.
As of 2018, the town had a population of 61,498. The town covers an area of 677 km². The town capital lies at Sa Pa. It is one of the main market towns in the area, where several ethnic minority groups such as Hmong, Dao, Giay, Xa Pho, and Tay live.
Main ways to travel to Sapa
From Hanoi: There are 3 main ways to go to Sapa from Hanoi
1. Train
Train is the most expensive option but this brings your more convenient and experiences. You can buy ticket at hundreds of travel agencies in Hanoi Old Quarter. Or if you would like to buy ticket in advance, Hai Phong Tours can help you with it. Price is around US$25/person/way.
2. Sleeping bus
Sleeping bus is better option to save budget. But please consider if you are easy to get sick! If you book day time bus, they will pick you up or drop off at hotel in Hanoi. But if you book night time bus, they will just drop you off at bus station. Then you need to find the way to hotel yourself. It’s around US$3 more for taxi.
3. Limousine
Limousine is the most convenient way to go at the moment. They can pick up and drop off directly at hotel even day time or night time. Please contact Hai Phong Tours to get quotation.
From Hai Phong: Bus is the only way to choose. There are morning bus leaving at 7:00 and night bus at 19:00. You can go to Cau Rao bus station to catch it.
