VinWonders Wave Park and VinWonders Water Park are two separate attractions in Hung Yen, east of Hanoi. Choose Wave Park at Ocean Park 2 for a beach-style outing with artificial waves, sand and lagoon scenery. Choose Water Park at Ocean Park 3 when pools, slides and children’s water play are the main reason for going.
For most families, one park makes a more relaxed day than trying to cover both. A combination ticket is useful when everyone actively wants a longer outing and you have planned the transfer between entrances. These are purpose-built leisure parks; they offer a change of pace from Hanoi sightseeing rather than a visit to Vietnam’s natural coast.
Wave Park or Water Park: what changes the decision
Wave Park: artificial waves and a beach setting
VinWonders Wave Park is in Vinhomes Ocean Park 2. Its main features include wave pools, the saltwater Laguna area, Sandy Park and water-play zones. The Atlantis-themed landscape adds photo settings and a resort-like backdrop to the swimming.
This is the more natural choice if you want to alternate water time with sand play and a slower beach-style break. It also has slides and activities, so it is not simply a swimming pool beside some sand. Decide which parts interest your group instead of assuming every person must follow the same sequence.
Wave-pool sessions can be more demanding than calm-water play. Start with an area that matches each child’s swimming confidence and follow staff directions. Kayaking is an extra activity to price separately, not an automatic inclusion in ordinary admission.
Water Park: pools, slides and children’s play areas
VinWonders Water Park is in Vinhomes Ocean Park 3. It combines outdoor swimming, an indoor four-season pool, slide complexes and the Coral water playground. Its Aquarium-themed children’s area is a play setting, not a live-animal aquarium.
Choose this park if the family is coming mainly to swim and use the water attractions. Older children may want the slides, while younger children may prefer a smaller play area. Check the height and participation rules at each attraction before promising a particular ride.
The indoor pool gives you another swimming option, but it does not turn the whole park into an indoor attraction. Confirm the pool’s operation if it is the main reason for visiting in cooler weather. Temporary maintenance can affect an individual facility even while the rest of the park remains open.
Tickets: one park, both parks and extra costs
Use these standard listed prices as a planning reference, then check the date-specific ticket offer before paying. The two individual parks use the same basic price structure:
- Monday–Friday, one park: 250,000 VND for visitors 140 cm and taller; 150,000 VND in the lower child-height band.
- Weekend or public holiday, one park: 300,000 VND in the taller category; 210,000 VND in the child category.
- Monday–Friday, both parks: 300,000 VND in the taller category; 230,000 VND in the child category.
- Weekend or public holiday, both parks: 400,000 VND in the taller category; 280,000 VND in the child category.
The child band starts at 80 cm. Measure before booking and confirm the category for a child close to 140 cm, along with the policy for a smaller infant. Admission height bands and individual slide restrictions are separate: paying the taller ticket price does not override a ride’s rules.
Budget separately for meals, transport, lockers or rentals where charged, kayaking and ticketed or token games. Standard ticket terms exclude several extras and do not allow ordinary cancellation or exchange. Read the conditions of your particular offer, especially if the weather might change your plans.
A discounted combo is only useful if you want both parks. With a young child, the effort of changing, packing belongings and reaching another entrance can outweigh a small saving. Ask how the combo is validated at each park and whether leaving affects re-entry before planning an outside lunch.
Getting there from Hanoi
Give the driver the full park name and Ocean Park 2 or Ocean Park 3, rather than simply “Ocean Park.” Ocean Park 1 is a different part of the development, and a residential entrance is not the same as the attraction gate. The shared VinWonders branding also does not make these parks the same destination as Times City.
A car or ride-hailing journey is straightforward to arrange, but allow roughly an hour from central Hanoi as a starting estimate, with extra margin for traffic. Check the route from your actual hotel. Choose a return meeting point before everyone is tired and carrying wet clothes.
VinBus OCT1 connects Royal City and Times City with Ocean City, reaching VinWonders Water Park. Its outward and return routes differ, so the return stop may not be directly opposite where you got off. Use the current VinBus route planner for the nearest stop, departure times and the correct direction.
OCP1 provides connections within the Ocean Park developments. It can be useful when changing areas, but allow waiting and walking time as well as the ride. A bus to Ocean City is not a hotel pickup, and transport is not included merely because your admission ticket covers two parks.
Plan a swimming day, not a race between attractions
The parks currently advertise an overall operating window of 8:30 a.m.–7 p.m. Confirm your chosen date and the swimming, wave-pool and slide schedules before departure; individual areas do not necessarily operate throughout that entire window.
For one park, allow a substantial half-day inside as an initial plan, plus the journey from Hanoi. Arrive with enough time to change and understand the layout, enjoy your main water activities, take a meal break and finish without rushing. Families wanting both parks should keep the day free of another major excursion.
At Wave Park, a simple sequence is water play, a break for food and sand, then another swim if everyone still wants it. At Water Park, begin with the attractions most important to your group, then settle into a suitable pool or children’s area. Let energy and operating conditions decide the last part of the day.
A warm day is more comfortable for an outdoor water outing than a cold, windy one. Pause when staff suspend activities for weather, and avoid treating an indoor pool as a guarantee that every planned experience will remain available.
Food, belongings and changing
Bring swimwear, a towel, dry clothes, sun protection and a bag for wet items. Carry only the valuables you need and use the locker facilities; check charges and the access method when you arrive. A waterproof phone pouch is not a reason to take a phone onto a slide against staff instructions.
Outside food and drinks are generally restricted, with exceptions for baby food and special dietary needs. Arrange those exceptions before traveling if they matter to your family. Plan to use the park’s food outlets rather than pack a full picnic without permission.
Keep an adult responsible for children in the water and select the depth and activity for their ability. Lifeguards and staff instructions support the visit, but they do not replace active supervision. Ask about a suitable flotation aid where required instead of assuming any inflatable toy is acceptable.
When another Hanoi outing fits better
If you want an indoor activity without swimming and changing, compare the Lotte Westlake and Times City aquariums. If your family wants a mix of rides, animals and other attractions, Bao Son Paradise offers a different day out west of Hanoi; its water-park season and ticket packages need their own checks.
For Wave Park and Water Park, make the final choice around one practical question: whether your group wants beach-style water time or a more pool-and-slide-focused visit. Confirm the park number, the attractions operating that day and the full family cost. VinWonders’ Vietnam customer-service hotline is 1900 6677, option 6.
