Starlight is a 32-cabin overnight cruise for travelers who want the Sung Sot, Titop and Luon Cave circuit in Halong Bay, with a restaurant, open sundeck and mini golf between excursions. Its cabin categories differ in floor, space and balcony access, so a sea-view room should not be mistaken for a balcony room.
Choose two days for the main Halong Bay route. The three-day program adds an excursion into Lan Ha Bay on a separate day boat, returning you to Starlight for the second night. That extra day brings more water activities, rather than a full day resting in your overnight cabin.

Starlight Cruise at a glance
- Route: central Ha Long Bay; the three-day version also enters Lan Ha Bay.
- Trip lengths: two days and one night, or three days and two nights.
- Published size: 32 cabins on a steel-hull vessel.
- Cabin range: 25-square-meter window cabins and two larger balcony Suites.
- Main facilities: restaurant and bar, large sundeck, mini golf, dry sauna and karaoke.
- Best for: active first-time visitors, groups and travelers who enjoy shared entertainment.
- Less suitable for: guests seeking a boutique ship, extensive private-balcony choice or a quiet route.
Deluxe, Executive and Suite cabins
Deluxe and Executive: windows onto the bay
Deluxe cabins are on the first accommodation deck, while Executive cabins are on the second. Both categories are listed at around 25 square meters and have bay-view windows. They suit guests who are happy to use the shared decks for outdoor time.
These categories do not provide the private balcony of a Suite. The main distinction when comparing them is the assigned floor and location; request your double or twin bed arrangement and any extra-bed details with the quotation.
Suite: more room and a private balcony
The two Suites are on the third deck, at around 50 square meters, with private balconies. This category can suit travelers who want outdoor seating attached to their cabin and more interior space.
Cabins have private bathrooms, and Jacuzzi bathtubs are a feature of the accommodation. If getting into a bath is difficult, confirm the shower arrangement and the route between your cabin and shared areas. A larger room or a lower deck alone does not establish step-free access.
The two-day Halong Bay itinerary
The Starlight two-day, one-night cruise starts from Halong International Cruise Port in Bai Chay. After lunch aboard, the afternoon includes Sung Sot Cave and Titop Island.
Sung Sot is a walking excursion with steps. At Titop, you can consider the viewpoint climb or time at the beach according to your fitness and the conditions. Ask about remaining aboard if you would rather skip an excursion.
Back on Starlight, the evening program includes a cooking demonstration, mini golf and dinner. Squid fishing and karaoke are optional activities afterward. The shared decks and entertainment make this a group cruise, so choose a cabin location with that in mind if quiet is a priority.
The next morning visits Luon Cave by kayak or a small boat with a local rower. The rowed option is useful if you prefer not to paddle, but still requires boarding a small craft. Guests then return for checkout, a final meal and the trip back to the harbor.
The third day adds Lan Ha Bay
The Starlight three-day, two-night cruise keeps the Sung Sot–Titop outing and final-morning Luon visit, with a separate excursion on the middle day.
The day boat heads into Lan Ha Bay for kayaking in the Dark and Bright Cave area, lunch aboard, a swimming stop around Ba Trai Dao and a visit to a pearl-farm exhibition center. It then returns to the overnight vessel in the Titop area.
Take a day bag with water, sun protection, a towel and anything you need while away from your cabin. Have dietary requests passed to the day-boat kitchen as well as Starlight’s restaurant.
Water levels and weather affect cave passages and swimming. A stop in the Ba Trai Dao area does not guarantee landing on a particular beach. If kayaking or a full day away from the main vessel does not suit you, confirm the available alternative before choosing the longer trip.
Food and time on board
The restaurant serves Vietnamese dishes, with seafood and international choices also part of the cruise’s dining offer. Vegetarian meals can be requested in advance. Give the kitchen specific instructions for vegan ingredients or allergies, and confirm what can be provided across the complete itinerary.
The sundeck is used for relaxing, Tai Chi and mini golf. Cooking demonstrations offer a short activity between outings; you can participate or simply watch. Squid fishing depends on the evening’s program and does not guarantee a catch.
The HPT packages list a dry sauna that requires advance notice. Confirm availability and any separate massage or spa charges rather than assuming every wellness service is included. Internet is available aboard, but it should not be relied on for uninterrupted work or calls throughout the route.
Transfers and the full booking price
The HPT Starlight packages include round-trip road transfers, the itinerary’s meals, sightseeing fees and kayaking. Pickup options include Hanoi Old Quarter, Hai Phong and Tam Coc. Confirm the exact meeting and return points for your hotel, particularly if you plan to finish somewhere different.
When comparing another quotation, check the inclusions carefully: a cruise-only rate may charge separately for road transport. Drinks, private dining and unlisted services can also add to the total.
Give the ages of children and request confirmation of their beds, meals and charges. Also discuss the full boarding and excursion route if anyone in your group needs assistance. Halong International Cruise Port and Tuan Chau are separate departure points, so pass the correct port to any independently arranged driver.
Is Starlight suitable for children?
Starlight can work for school-age children who will enjoy the beach, kayak or rowed boat, mini golf and cooking activity. The 32-cabin layout and evening entertainment also suit families who prefer an active shared atmosphere. It is less convenient for a toddler who needs a long daytime nap or a large dedicated play area.
Confirm the cabin’s approved occupancy, child bed, life-jacket size and balcony arrangement. A child who travels free may have to share the existing bed and services. The current policy calculates age from the birth year and limits the free under-five arrangement, so send all birth years and request a single total for the family.
Mobility and access
Starlight should not be treated as a step-free cruise. Moving between cabin decks, the restaurant and the top-deck mini golf can require stairs. Sung Sot and the Titov viewpoint involve climbing, while Luon requires a transfer into a kayak or rowed boat.
Ask about the exact cabin deck, handrails, bathroom access and boarding route from Halong International Cruise Port. A guest can choose the Titov beach instead of the summit and the rowed boat instead of kayaking, but those alternatives still involve uneven ground or small-craft boarding. Arrange permission to remain onboard before the group leaves if an excursion is unsuitable.
Weather and operational changes
Swimming, kayaking, outdoor mini golf and sundeck use depend on weather and local safety instructions. Strong wind, thunderstorms, fog or rough water can change the order of stops, replace an activity or prevent departure. Ba Trai Dao access on the three-day route is particularly dependent on water and sea conditions.
Ask what the confirmed terms provide if the cruise is canceled or shortened. Pack shoes with grip, sun protection and a light rain layer. Avoid a tight flight or train connection after disembarkation because tender operations, port procedures and road traffic can delay the advertised return.
What is included and what costs extra?
The current Hai Phong Tours packages include the selected cabin, round-trip transfer, English-speaking guide, entrance and sightseeing fees, scheduled meals, cooking demonstration, sunset activity, kayaking, welcome drink, cabin water, fresh fruit, service charge and onboard insurance.
Drinks and services not named in the package are extra. Confirm massage, private dining, karaoke arrangements and any holiday surcharge before payment. The dry sauna is listed as complimentary with advance notice, but its operating time still needs to fit the itinerary.
Advantages of Starlight Cruise
- A classic Ha Long route covers Sung Sot, Titov and Luon for a first visit.
- Window cabins provide more affordable access to a large established ship.
- The two Suites offer substantially more room and a private balcony.
- Mini golf, karaoke and a large event-style restaurant suit sociable groups.
- The rowed-boat option at Luon helps guests who do not want to kayak.
- The three-day itinerary adds a distinct Lan Ha Bay excursion.
Limitations to accept
- Thirty-two cabins and a large restaurant do not create a boutique atmosphere.
- Most cabins have bay windows rather than private balconies.
- The central Ha Long route can be busy at well-known stops.
- The short itinerary leaves limited uninterrupted time on the ship.
- The three-day middle day uses another boat and separates you from the cabin.
- Cave steps, island terrain and small-boat transfers present mobility barriers.
Final booking checklist
- Choose a window cabin or one of the two balcony Suites deliberately.
- Confirm the deck, bed setup, bathtub or shower access and occupancy.
- Select two or three days from the actual excursion plan.
- Ask about the rowed-boat, non-swimming and stay-onboard alternatives.
- Send dietary, allergy, mobility and child requirements in writing.
- Confirm Halong International Cruise Port and the complete road transfer.
- Check drinks, spa, child charges, supplements and cancellation terms.
- Bring the original passport required for overnight registration.
- Leave a practical buffer before onward transport.
Starlight is a useful choice when its Halong Bay stops and cabin options match your priorities. Decide first whether a window or private balcony matters, then whether the extra Lan Ha day-boat excursion is worth the additional night for your group.
